He married, first to Sarah _____, who died July 27, 1706. He married 2nd on October 29, 1707 to Hannah Burton. She was born in 1686, and survived her husband by sixty-five years, dying on October 16, 1786, aged 100. She was the daughter of Isaac Burton.
John was an inhabitant of Boxford as early as 1669. On August 24, 1665, Richard Hubbard confirmed to Richard Kimball on Wenham, his farm in Rowley village (now Boxford). John probably settled on this land. He was made a freeman on March 22, 1688-9. By the frequency with which the name of "Corporal" Kimball is found upon the early records of the town it is evident that he was a man of importance in town affairs. In 1675 he was tax collector. In 1711 his name and those of his sons are upon the tax list. He was a member of the church in Topsfield, and was dismissed to the church in Boxford in 1702. His will is on file at Salem, MA, and bears date February 19, 1718, and was probated April 15, 1721.
All children were born in Boxford, MA.
