Richard Kimball
(Richard, John)

Richard was born in Ipswich, MA on September 22, 1665.  He died on May 26, 1715.

He married on February 13, 1688 to Lydia Wells of Ipswich.  She was the daughter of Nathaniel and Lydia (Thurston) Wells, and was born April 5, 1668.  She was the mother of his children and died previous to August 30, 1705, when he married (2nd) Sarah Waite, who died February 22, 1725.

He was called Corporal on November 23, 1700.  He resided in Ipswich, and on June 19, 1697, he received from his father the housing and land where he then lived, besides other property.  "On Nov. 2, 1700, 'Insign Baly', Corporal Richard Kimball and John Bointon, were chosen a committee to treat with ye Englishman and Indians if they come concerning the title to our land, i.e. the purchase of the land including the town of Bradford, sd town fr. S. side of Merrimack River to Naumkeag, and Bass River, Containing 8,000 acres." (History of Rowley, Mass.)

His children were born in Ipswich, MA

  6. Nathaniel (4-80), b. 11 May 1700; d. 1786, in Norwich, CT
  7. Martha (4), b. 1 Feb 1701; m. 4 Feb 1728, Edmund Head or Heard.  Apparently there were no children of this marriage.  Martha d. 19 Oct 1730, in "childbed"
