Joshua Kimball
(Richard, Benjamin, Samuel, James)

Joshua was born in the west parish of Haverhill.  He was baptized in February, 1761 and died in Grantham, NH in 1807.

He married on January 8, 1784 in Haverhill to Hannah Crowell.  She was born on September 24, 1759 and died in Canterbury, NH on January 6, 1849.

Joshua Kimball was a Revolutionary soldier.  His record of service, as given in the archives at the State house in Boston, MA is as follows:

"April 22, 1777.  In Capt. Johnson's Co. Col Titcomb's Regt. 2m10d.
April 2, 1778 Capt. John Bodwell's Co., Gerishe's Regt. 2m16d. 
July 2, 1778. John Bodwell's Co. Gerrish's Regt 10 days. 
July 15, 1780.  In John Ayer's Co. Wade's Regt. 3m7d
Aug. 11, 1781.  James Mallon's Co. Putnam's Regt. 2m14d."

His name is signed to an order on the treasurer for payment of above services in Mallon's Co., on October 24, 1783. 

He purchased a farm in Haverhill, MA on November 21, 1791 and sold it on February 14, 1795.  He removed to Alstead, NH, where he bought a farm on April 1, 1795.  He removed from Alstead, NH to Plainfield, NH and from thence to Grantham in 1802. 

His widow, with her daughters, Hannah and Sarah, went to the Shakers in Canterbury, NH in 1810.  Isaac and Phineas had already been sent to the Enfield Shakers, where they remained until they grew up, when they left the society.  Hannah left the Shakers for a short time and resided in Dover, but returned to them and died in Canterbury.  Sarah left them and was married.

7.  Phineas (6-779), b. Plainfield, NH, 1804; d. 6 Mar 1854
