Richard was born in Boxford, MA on June 10, 1754. He died in Sterling, MA on December 31, 1818.
He married (Int) in Boxford, MA on June 12, 1794 to Abigail Tyler.
He was a revolutionary soldier, and says in his pension papers, that from about March 1777, till March 1, 1780, he served as an artificer and a private. He belonged to Capt. Benjamin Pollard's Co., in the regiment of artificers commanded by Col. Baldwin. He left the service on March 1, 1780. He was at that time in Capt. Phineas Parker's Co. From March 10, 1780 to June 1, 1780, he was in Capt. Pattin's Co. of Artilery Artificers under Gen Knox.
After the war he went to Rindge, NH, till about 1790; he then went to Utica, NY, where he remained until 1804, when he returned to Rindge. In 1810 he settled in Sterling, MA, and resided there until he died.
At the time of his death, his widow refused to administer the estate, and asked that Major Ephraim Powers be appointed. The inventory was filed on March 1, 1819, with the real estate totaling $3080.00 and the personal estate valued at $698.31
